Student Behavioral Intervention Team
Northern Arizona University prioritizes the safety and well-being of all students. The Student Behavioral Intervention Team (SBIT) is an interdisciplinary group of university leaders from various departments who coordinate the response to students of concern via assessment, consultation, intervention, referrals, and documentation. SBIT serves a clearinghouse for student concerns that might be reported in a variety of places.
SBIT’s objective is to evaluate and organize the university’s response to student behaviors that might need intervention. The team employs a proactive and collaborative approach to promote the physical and emotional safety of students.
SBIT is comprised of leadership from the following:
- Dean of Students
- Student Rights & Responsibilities
- Lumberjack CARE Center
- Campus Living
- Counseling Services
- Disability Resources
- NAU Police Department
Concerns about an NAU student can be reported via the Report a concern or incident webpage. Students of concern may be elevated from SBIT to the Threat Assessment and Management Team (TAMT) as appropriate.
