The new academic year is here, and the excitement of being back to school can be both invigorating and slightly nerve-wracking.
Whether you’re a freshman embarking on this journey for the first time or a returning student, one thing is certain – you can make a huge difference in your college experience by fully utilizing all of the resources NAU offers. Here’s a guide on how to make the most of these invaluable assets.
1. Academic Success Center
NAU’s Academic Success Center provides an array of free support services to ensure your college experience is both enriching and successful. ASC offers personalized tutoring, small group sessions, academic coaching, graduate test preparation, and learning support. They offer tailored assistance to enhance your learning journey.

2. Campus Health
- Health Promotions is devoted to enhancing student welfare through educational initiatives, policies, and active advocacy. They have several event, project, and presentation opportunities to help you become educated on all aspects of your health and others.
- NAU Counseling Services supports student health and well-being. You can chat with a trained therapist on topics like relationships, depression, adjusting to college, eating concerns, anxiety, stress, and substance use.
- Jack’s Care 24/7 is a great mental health resource that represents an added provision for the NAU community, supporting students with round-the-clock, cost-free emergency and short-term counseling assistance. This support is accessible through various channels, including text, chat, phone (866 656-9983), video calls, and more.
- Medical Services provides accessible care both in-person and through Telehealth choices. They extend a diverse range of medical services and support to the entire University community encompassing a wide array of services, including but not limited to: Primary care, urgent care, COVID-19, mental health services, sexual health, flu shots, physical therapy, ect. https://in.nau.edu/campus-health-services/medical-services/
Louie’s Cupboard helps college students who encounter financial constraints and may not be able to purchase groceries or afford a meal plan. This campus food pantry provides non perishable canned and boxed goods, fruit, meat, beans, pasta, grains, eggs, fresh fruits, vegetables, and bread.
Louie’s Cupboard offers grab and go bags available Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Dean of Students suite, University Union Room 104 with a required grab and go bag form (found in the Dean of Students office or on their website).

4. U.C.A.N
University Coaching for Activity and Nutrition is a health coaching service at NAU for students, faculty, and staff looking to make a health supporting change. Some examples of these changes include but are not limited to
- Eating more fruits and vegetables
- Being more physically active
- Self-acceptance / body positivity
- Becoming a more mindful eater
- Meal planning, grocery shopping, and food prep
- Stress management
- Sleep
