Fall 2017 academic deadlines

The official publication of the Office of the Registrar.  NAU reserves the right to make changes to the University calendar. 

All deadlines listed below apply to regular 16-week classes.  Deadlines are pro-rated for non-16-week classes.

August 2017

8/19	Financial Aid Disburses
8/21	Begin Financial Aid Refunds
8/21	Tuition payment deadline for Fall 2017 term
8/22	Unpaid students are placed in payment plan
8/28	First day of Term
8/28	$50 late enrollment fee in effect

September 2017

9/4	Labor Day, University Closed
9/6	Last day to add onto a class Wait List
9/6	Administrative Request Deadline
9/7	Last day to Add a class (without having to file a petition and pay a $25 late add fee)
9/7	Last day to Drop/Delete a class (without class appearing on students' transcripts)
9/7	Last day to change Audit to Credit or Credit to Audit
9/8	Petition to Add a class and $25 late add fee in effect
9/8	Withdrawal in effect (class will appear on students' transcripts with a "W" where grade is reported)
9/8	Last day to submit residency reclassification petition
9/11	Last day to drop with 100% tuition refund for M16 session classes ONLY. Shorter sessions have prorated deadlines
9/11	Open enrollment begins for Winter 2017
9/18	Census 21 day enrollment count
9/19	Census $100 Add fee for M16 session classes in effect
9/29	Last day to file for A-Pass/Fail

October 2017

10/6	Last day to submit residency reclassification appeal
10/9 - 10/27	Submission of mid-term grades

Early enrollment appointments are reserved for continuing students only.  Students beginning their career in the Fall 2017 term will be able to begin enrolling during open enrollment, which begins March 20, 2017.

The following paragraph clarifies how to schedule exam times for classes that are not included on the Fall 2017 final exam schedule:

• If class meeting times do not fit within the standard meeting times and the published final examination schedule, the instructor will need to evaluate the schedule and determine which examination time will prevent or reduce conflicts for students. The instructor must then poll the class to find out whether there is an actual conflict. If insurmountable problems are encountered, the instructor must contact the department chair or, if necessary, the dean. Schedule of classes is also available to provide assistance, 928-523-1751 or Registrar.ScheduleofClasses@nau.edu.

In addition:

There is minimal potential for conflicts in some time slots where multiple class meeting times are scheduled for finals. Please poll the class and follow the process in the bullet point above.

** Please poll single night 5:30 to 10:00 pm Friday classes as described in the bullet point above, since no finals are scheduled on Friday.
