Chief Missy Freshour
NAUPD
From the Chief of Police
NAU PD is committed to providing the Northern Arizona University community with a highly professional and well trained police department. Our mission is to foster a safe, healthy environment through quality law enforcement services and community problem solving partnerships. NAU PD focuses on collaborative partnerships within the NAU community and the city of Flagstaff. Community outreach is a priority for our police department.
NAU PD continues to achieve a Gold Standard accreditation rating from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). By voluntarily holding ourselves to this higher standard of excellence, we hope to always provide a level of law enforcement service that our community can trust and appreciate.
NAU PD enhances the safety of the NAU campus community through our patrol division that works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Officers are able to use a variety of patrol methods including marked patrol units, unmarked units, police mountain bikes, and an All-Terrain Vehicle. In addition, NAU PD maintains a highly trained Police Emergency Communications Center, an Investigations Division, and a Community Relations Division. We also utilize student workers as University Safety Aides and Student Traffic Controllers.
I encourage all NAU students, staff, faculty, and visitors to learn more about the resources offered by our department by reviewing the important information on our webpage, or by contacting us directly. Please take some time to read the Annual Security Report to enhance your Lumberjack experience as it relates to being informed and safe.
We are proud and honored to serve Northern Arizona University.
Sincerely,
