Academic Affairs and Information Technology Services (ITS) are piloting a new, centrally-managed email marketing platform called Emma Corporate. This one-year pilot—running from February 2026 through January 2027—will explore how a shared enterprise solution can support more strategic, consistent, efficient and data-informed email communications across the division.
Emma is designed to help teams create, send, and measure targeted email communications. Currently, the platform is centrally managed by the Academic Affairs Marketing (AAM) and Academic Affairs Business Analyst (AABA) teams in partnership with ITS, with decentralized access provided to approved sub-accounts across colleges, departments, and units. The goal of the pilot is to streamline communication efforts, improve audience reach and engagement, and ensure alignment with university standards for branding, accessibility, and compliance.
Across Academic Affairs, Emma can support a wide range of communication needs, including:
- Newsletters to faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community members
- Invitations to lectures, research symposia, and other events
- College, program, and department announcements
- Targeted outreach to specific audiences
The platform is especially well-suited for units communicating with external audiences and contacts outside of Salesforce.
Built-in tools—such as a drag-and-drop email builder, customizable templates, role-based access, subscription management, robust reporting and analytics, and A/B testing—make it easier to create professional, effective emails while measuring performance over time.
A small group of Academic Affairs units will be selected to participate in the pilot. There is no cost to participate during the first year, providing an opportunity for units to explore the platform and share feedback. If successful, the pilot has the potential to expand into a campus-wide email marketing solution.
