NAU Green Fund

The Green Fund is NAU’s main source of sustainability funding, supported by the $15 per student, per semester Green Fee. Students, staff, and faculty may submit project proposals, which are reviewed by a committee of students, staff and faculty advisors. The Green Fund empowers students to use fee money to improve campus for themselves, their peers, and future Lumberjacks.

The NAU Green Fund promotes student participation in and provides funding for projects that reduce NAU’s negative impact on the environment and create a culture of sustainability on-campus.

Applying for a Green Fund proposal is an opportunity to create meaningful change on campus while building valuable skills for your future. By leading a project, you’ll gain hands-on experience in planning, budgeting, and collaboration, while seeing your ideas move from concept to reality. Along the way, you’ll deepen your understanding of sustainability by addressing real environmental challenges and learning how to make a lasting impact.

The Green Fund process starts with submitting an idea summary and receiving feedback from the committee. You’ll then work on your proposal with our guidance and submit it for review. An optional meeting can be scheduled to discuss your idea. Once approved, you’ll begin your project, check in with the committee throughout, and share your results when finished. The Green Fund is here to support you — reach out anytime at GreenFund@nau.edu

The Green Fund will stop meeting on December 5th as the end of the academic semester approaches. No applications will be accepted after November 28th until the spring.

Since its founding in March 2010, the Green Fund has invested more than $3 million in more than 110 projects around campus, including the Yellow Bike Program, the San Francisco Parking Garage solar array and the Secret Garden. – The NAU Review
