Pete Yanka, Director

Thank you for your interest in Northern Arizona University. We take great pride in serving our military-connected students here at the University. Each and every day we get a chance to serve our students, helping them transition into the University setting. Our military-connected students bring a unique perspective and insight that helps make the NAU community a better place.

NAU has a long-standing commitment to fostering meaningful relationships among students and the University. The Department of Veteran and Military Services is committed to the same goal in how we communicate with our students, build our services, and support and challenge our students to succeed.

Convenience and flexibility Accordion Closed

With a main campus in Flagstaff, statewide locations, and online options, Northern Arizona University offers a variety of ways to earn your degree, even if you’re deployed abroad.

Priority enrollment
Our military students have the advantage of priority enrollment, so you can get the classes you want before they fill up.

Transferability of credits
Use credits you’ve earned through military service or previous coursework toward a degree from Northern Arizona University, so you can get your degree sooner.

Policies tailored to your needs Accordion Closed

Tuition deferment request
If you are receiving Chapter 30, 35, 1606, or 1607 benefits, and need to have some or all of your tuition deferred until later in the semester, please contact our office for the current deferment form.

Reactivation policy
If you’re recalled to active duty, our reactivation policy allows you to easily withdrawal from the university.

Support Accordion Closed

The Department of Military and Veteran Services provides resources and support services to our military-affiliated students.

At the Flagstaff campus, we have a dedicated Veteran Success Center where you can connect with other student veterans.

We also offer specifically designed courses to help veterans succeed in higher education.
