Police Department Units

Here you can learn about the various units within our department. Brief descriptions are provided here, but click on the images below to learn more.

Patrol

The “backbone” of NAUPD, the Patrol division handles most police business within the department.

Criminal Investigations

Criminal Investigations handles major cases, internal affairs, and felony charging.

Community Relations

Community Relations provides education and training on public safety matters throughout the university community while also responding to general concerns about public safety on campus.

Communications

Communications is responsible for receiving calls for service and dispatching public safety resources on campus.

Accreditation

Accreditation is responsible for maintaining proofs of compliance for the department’s accreditation though the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

Evidence and Property

Evidence and Property maintains custody of all evidence collected in criminal cases, handles the safekeeping for found items and provides for the officer’s equipment needs.

Records

Records maintains paper and digital records for the department including police reports, citations, and other police documents. Records is responsible for processing public records requests and maintaining the statistical analysis for the department.

Student Employment

Student employees and interns support the department’s mission as Student Traffic Controllers, University Safety Aides, and Police Aides.
