Student Research Grant
The Green Fund Student Research Grant is a semesterly funding opportunity available each Fall and Spring for full-time NAU undergraduate and graduate students. This grant is aimed to increase sustainability focused research on the NAU Flagstaff campus in alignment with NAU’s Climate Action Plan.
Do I Qualify?
To be considered for funding your project must meet three baseline criteria:
- You must be a full time, currently enrolled NAU undergraduate or graduate student.
- Your reseach must be conducting under the guidance of a full-time NAU faculty member.
- The research design and goals must directly focus on improving sustainablity or reducing emissions on NAU’s Flagstaff Mountain Campus. Please review the NAU Climate Action Plan to ensure your project aligns with our goals.

Application Deadlines:
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis during the school year, but priority is given to submissions recieved by the 12th week of each semester. Also please note that while applications are accepted during the summer, due to a infrequent meetings, the committee may not review applications until the Fall semester.

- Contact the Green Fund for support. It is highly recommended to meeting with a Green Fund Committee member before you submit an application. They can help you refine your draft and guide you through the process. Reach the committee at GreenFund@nau.edu.

Additional Information
- All funded research teams projects must sign a commitment to present a status update of their research in both an oral presentation to the Green Fund Committee and a poster/exhibit presentation at the Undergraduate or Graduate Symposium, within one year of receiving funding.
- Funding is limited to one proposal per student per year, but applicants may apply across multiple years.
- Students may budget a wage of $15.50 per hour for up to 200 hours maximum.
