USEFULL Program
Starting March 18, 2024, Campus Dining and the Green Fund will partner together to introduce a new system to reduce plastic waste on campus- USEFULL. USEFULL will pilot for a year on campus and will be mandatory for customers to use at three dining locations in the Union- Cobrizo Mexican Grill, Turnip the Greens, and Lemongrass.
How it works
- Download the USEFULL app.
- When you order food at a participating location, you will be given your food in a stainless steel USEFULL container.
- You will need to scan the code on the container using the USEFULL app
- You can enjoy your food in the Union, or you can take it back to your dorm– the choice is yours!
- Once you are done eating, return the container to one of the drop off locations in the Union
- Repeat!
Why it Matters
Single-use plastic are one of the largest categories of waste at NAU. The USEFULL program will save 25,000 pounds of single-use plastics from the landfill in just its first year, even with it only being at three restaurants. NAU’s climate action plan outlines being carbon neutral by 2030, and this program will be a big step in that direction.
Participating locations
