Green Fee to Increase in the 25-26 Academic Year Accordion Closed

The Green Fee will increase by 5% starting in the 2025–2026 academic year to maintain the Green Fund’s purchasing power and support NAU’s 2030 carbon neutrality goals. This small increase helps fund major sustainability projects, like electric buses, turf conversion, and a campus-wide VPPA, while continuing to support student-led initiatives.

Green Fund Updates Committee Role Title Accordion Closed

The Green Fund has renamed the Impact Analyst position to Internal Resources Coordinator to better support long-term organization, data management, and the creation of a public repository for all past projects and research. This change strengthens institutional knowledge, improves committee resources, and expands access to sustainability information for the NAU community.

USEFULL Improvements Accordion Closed

NAU Campus Dining’s USEFULL pilot, funded by the Green Fund, is expanding with new return stations and drying racks to improve convenience and keep the successful reusable container system running efficiently. With over 37,000 checkouts and significant waste, water, and emissions savings, USEFULL has become NAU’s most impactful waste-reduction initiative to date.

NAU Campus Dining Piloting USEFULL Program to Eliminate Plastic Waste Accordion Closed

NAU Campus Dining is transitioning from single-use plastics to the mandatory USEFULL reusable container program, launching March 18 with support from the Green Fund to reduce waste and support campus sustainability goals. The year-long pilot at Cobrizo, Turnip the Greens, and Lemon Grass is expected to eliminate over 25,000 pounds of plastic waste and may expand to additional dining locations after evaluation.

Green Fund Now Sponsoring Events Accordion Closed

The Green Fund has introduced a new event sponsorship form to streamline funding requests for sustainability-focused events at NAU. This change makes event funding more accessible and helps the university progress toward its 2030 climate action goals.
