University Advising

Gateway Advising

Advisors are available to assist with course selection, degree planning and academic support. Students can find their assigned advisor in LOUIE.

Gateway Advisors provide advising for First Year, Exploratory, and Premed students.


Peer Mentoring



Peer Jacks

Statewide Peer Mentors

Assists first-year students with the university transition through mentoring and social activities.

Free student-to-student mentoring is available to help students learn: Canvas, LOUIE, Word, Excel and more! 


Peer Academic Coaching

Peer-to-peer coaching to help develop learning strategies in and out of the classroom.


Tutoring



Academic Success Centers

Learning Specialist

Offers tutoring, supplemental instruction, learning strategies, peer academic coaching, and graduate test prep.

The Learning Specialist will meet one on one to help students with anything from motivation, reading comprehension, and time management to test anxiety, and note-taking.


Graduate Test Prep

University Writing Commons

The Academic Success Center provides courses to help students succeed on all their graduate exams.

Provides one-on-one online writing assistance for students at all stages in the writing process across all programs and disciplines.


Interdisciplinary Writing Program

Supplemental Instruction

Offers writing resources to faculty and students by providing feedback and assistance with all stages of the writing process across all disciplines.

SI is a series of peer-facilitated weekly review session for students taking historically challenging courses.

Assists students with academic records & course enrollment

Case Management staff help students determine reasons why they may struggle in their classes and help find appropriate resources and support.


Student Service Center

College Success Programs

A first stop for training registration, financial aid, and student account issues.

College Success Programs help build academic confidence and empower those students to succeed in the new college environment.


CMAP

Testing Center

Assists students with limited financial means in obtaining required course materials for classes by providing a $300 credit at the NAU Bookstore. 

The Testing Center supports student success by offering exams that students may need to get into college, to obtain college credit, to place in college classes, and to prepare for life after college.


Math Achievement Program

Transfer and Online Connections

Free in person tutoring for MAT 100, MAT 108, MAT 114, MAT 125.

Offers mentoring, resources, and activities for transfer and online students.


Veteran and Military Services

First Gen

Offering services and resources for Veterans and military-connected students.

Offers mentoring, resources, and activities for first-generation college students.


First Scholars

The goal of the First Scholars program is to help first-generation college students succeed in school, graduate, and have a life complete with self-awareness, success and significance.
