Veterans Week 2021
Join us for a week of events in celebration of the experiences and sacrifices of those who have served our country. Most events take place on NAU’s Flagstaff campus, with live broadcasts available for our online, statewide, and Lumberjack community partners who are unable to attend in person.
Monday, November 8 Accordion Closed
- Instagram takeover with NAU Social – 8am-5pm
The Veteran Success Center will be taking over the NAU Instagram account for the day. Learn a little bit about our NAU military connected community through student posts, brief videos, and interactive trivia throughout the day.

- Open Table Ceremony – Noon at the Hot Spot inside the University Union
Join us as Air Force and Army ROTC cadets present a brief yet reverent ceremony honoring our prisoners-of-war and missing-in-action service members in the US Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy.
- Marcella LeBeau – EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO FAMILY ISSUE
Join us as Ms. LeBeau, a 102 year-old veteran who served in the Army during WWII as an army nurse, shares her insight and wisdom.

Join us for a student panel discussion exploring the diversity of thought within the military-connected community surrounding the phrase, “Thank you for your Service.” The discussion will take place in our Virtual VSC.
- Student Veterans of America Appreciation Dinner – 6pm at NAU’s 1899 Bar & Grill
An appreciation dinner honoring our veterans for their commitment and service, open to active and former military service members and invited guests. Located in the North Union, 307 W. - An ROTC Salute: our NAU ROTC programs honor our Veterans – all day at NAU’s Flagstaff campus
Keep an eye out for Army and Air Force ROTC cadets—future officers preparing to go into the military—as they sport their dress blues to demonstrate their appreciation and gratitude for our veteran service members.

This in-person event will also be available via Livestream and will also be broadcast at the NAU Yuma campus. Join us in person or through livestream for our signature event to say thank you to those who have served (and those who are currently serving) and learn more about the diversity of the Veteran experience. Rick Yazzie will perform the Veterans Indigenous Drum Song, and special guest student from the College of Arts and Letters will sing the National Anthem.

- Pre-game tailgating event – 11am-1pm in the Walkup Skydome parking lot
Stop by, grab a bite, and connect at our pre-game tailgating session prior to the game. Those who have requested tickets can pick up their tickets and complimentary t-shirts.
- Home Football Game – 1pm at the Walkup Skydome
Join us as we honor our veterans with a special tribute and root on our Men’s Football team against Montana! Witness Army ROTC cadets as they rappel from the Walkup Skydome to present the game ball.
