Veterans Challenge Race – Monday – 5:30 PM Accordion Closed
Join us at the NAU Fieldhouse where teams of 2 will compete in a series of competitions, each themed towards the role and demands of each of the 5 military branches. This event will be a fun way to show your problem solving skills and physical abilities. Compete with a partner or come alone. FREE AND OPEN TO ALL NAU STUDENTS AND STAFF.

University Union – West Lawn
Please join us to honor those who have and are currently serving in our country’s armed forces. We will be showcasing the diversity of the Veteran experience through three Veteran guest presenters discussing some of their experiences and sharing what Veterans Day means to them. At this year’s event, the university will also be proclaiming NAU as a Purple Heart University. Please dress warm, as the event is outside on the west lawn on the University Union.
This event will be live-streamed online for those unable to attend in person.
Veterans Dinner – Wednesday – 5:00 PM Accordion Closed
NAU Student Veterans and Families are invited to join the VSC and SVA for a FREE BBQ dinner. You get to meet other veterans on campus and in the community, network, and socialize all while eating some amazing BBQ from 1899 Bar and Grill. Some menu items include Beef Brisket, BBQ chicken, various sides, and some amazing deserts. This event is being hosted by NAU Veteran and Military Services partnering with the NAU SVA chapter to honor those who have served or are currently serving. The BBQ will be held on 11/6/2019 at 5pm, food being served at 5:30, all located on the back porch of 1899 Bar and Grill. Sign up to reserve your seat!
Moral Injury / Moral Courage Panel – Thursday – 7:00PM Accordion Closed
Please join us for a panel discussion with our veteran and civilian students discussing moral injury and its effects on one’s outlook on life and self-worth. Moral Injury is a relatively new diagnostic term that identifies the challenge of being placed in a situation that no choice you have fits within your developed moral compass. The result is a choice that has consequences on the soul of a person. This event explores the aspect that it is not so much mental health, but an injury to one’s conscience. Come hear examples from our students of moral injury and the courage demonstrated to move forward in life.
Tailgate / Football Game – Saturday – Tailgate @ Noon – Game @ 2:00 PM Accordion Closed
Come join us at our tailgate event to spend time with our student and community Veterans as NAU prepares to take on Sacramento State in a key Big Sky matchup. Limited free tickets will be made available for our community Veterans and their families.
