Notice of Appointment
All appointed employees will receive a Notice of Appointment (NOA) for their employment at NAU. Appointed employees include Service Professionals, Faculty, Post-Doctoral Scholars, Administrators, Administrative Faculty, and Academic Professionals. The NOA and offer letter together constitute an employee’s full contract.
When do new employees receive an NOA? Accordion Closed
New Faculty, Administrative Faculty, and Academic Professionals will receive an NOA prior to their employment being finalized. After the employee has signed an offer letter, memorandum of understanding, or other employment document, the employee’s department will submit an ePAR to hire the employee. Once the ePAR reaches the payroll office for processing, a Notice of Appointment will be released to the employee. Employees must accept their NOAs before their ePARs can be finalized and before they can begin receiving pay, so it is imperative they accept as soon as they are able.
Service Professionals and Post-Doctoral Scholars will receive an NOA after the ePAR has been approved by the payroll office. The employee has 14 days to accept the NOA.
When do continuing employees receive their NOAs for next fiscal year? Accordion Closed
Notices of appointment for the next fiscal year will be drafted in spring of the prior fiscal year. After departments have provided necessary information to payroll, NOAs will be released for continuing employees prior to July 1st.
How do employees accept their electronic Notice of Appointment? Accordion Closed
As of fiscal year 2019, all Notices of Appointment are delivered and accepted electronically through LOUIE. Employees will receive an email to their NAU email address when a Notice of Appointment has been released. For instructions on how to accept an electronic NOA, please view NOA Employee Instructions.
How do departments view electronic Notices of Appointment? Accordion Closed
Department employees with a business manager role or an NOA View role in LOUIE are able to view electronic NOAs for their departments going back to January 2018. For instructions on how to view electronic NOAs, please view NOA View History Instructions.
What if I am unable to view electronic NOAs through LOUIE? Accordion Closed
