Do I need to create an account to apply? Accordion Closed
No. You are not required to create an account. However, it is highly recommended that you do so that you can track your application through the process.
Can I apply for more than one job at a time? Accordion Closed
No. The system does not allow for applicants to apply for more than one job at a time.
What documents do I need to submit with my application? (e.g., resume, cover letter, references) Accordion Closed
You should include a resume and cover letter with your application. We recommend that you put your resume and cover letter in Microsoft Word or .pdf document formats. It is also recommended that you include your name and the position vacancy number in the attachment and/or in the document title.

Once you submit your application and agree to the conditions of employment you will receive a confirmation e-mail within a few hours.
How often is the job vacancy information updated? Accordion Closed
Job vacancy information on the web is updated every 15 minutes. Please note that the availability of each position is subject to change at any time.
How do I search the job openings? Accordion Closed
You may use the search filters on the left-hand side of the page to refine your search, or you may type in keywords in the search bar at the top of the screen to refine your search. It is best to use full words in your search.
Will you consider my application for other positions that are available at NAU? Accordion Closed
You will only be considered for the position(s) for which you submit an application. If you would like to be considered for other available positions, you will need to submit a separate application for each position.
Do I have to fill out all sections of the application if I attach a resume? Accordion Closed
Yes. In order to receive full consideration, you are required to complete all information in the application process that has an asterisk* identifying the field as a required field. You will not be able to proceed in the application process if you do not complete the required fields.
When is my application due? Accordion Closed
All applications must be submitted via the Careers page no later than midnight on the closing date for the position. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
What does “Open until further notice” mean? Accordion Closed
If an application deadline reads “Open until further notice,” the hiring department is accepting applications until an adequate applicant pool is established. Once an applicant pool has been established, the posting will be updated to provide applicants three days of notice before the position closes. However, the vacancy may close without notice. If you have interest in a position, it is highly recommended that you apply as soon as possible upon seeing the announcement.
Can I look at previous applications that I have submitted? Accordion Closed
You may view any applications that you have submitted by logging in to your applicant account. You will see any incomplete applications as well as any submitted applications.
How can I view more information about one of the job titles listed? Accordion Closed
Click on the job title for a full description of the position. If you want to apply for that job, just click the “Apply Now” button on the posting.
Can I attach a resume and a cover letter to my application? Accordion Closed
Yes. Therefore, we recommend that you put your resume and cover letter in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat document formats. It is also recommended that you include your name and the position vacancy number in the attachment and/or in the document title.
What if my resume and cover letter are not Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) documents? Accordion Closed
Our system can accept documents in other formats as well. If you run into any trouble attaching documents, you can reach out to our staff for assistance.
Do I need to submit a separate application for each position that I would to apply for? Accordion Closed
Yes, a separate application needs to be submitted for each individual position for which you wish to apply.
Additionally, you may return to the application at a future date and most of the information you have already provided will be there for you to edit. Be sure to review your information before submitting each application, and you must answer all of the applicant questions before applying for each application submission.
Hiring & Selection Process
How long does the hiring process usually take? Accordion Closed
The time varies depending on the department conducting the search. However, it usually takes two to three weeks after the closing date on the job to conduct interviews and reach a hiring decision.
The department conducting the search will notify applicants directly to request an interview or notify them that a selection has been made.
If at any time you would like to see a status on your application progress you can log into the applicant portal under “Applicant Login” on the NAU Careers Page for an update.
When will my references be checked? Accordion Closed
Departments can choose to check applicants’ references at any time. If you would like special consideration in having an employer contacted, please indicate this in the responsibilities section under the work experience section of the application.

Are there remote or hybrid positions available? Accordion Closed
Hybrid and remote positions are available at NAU, depending upon the needs of the department conducting the search. The job postings will specify which positions are eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Qualifications & Requirements
Do I need prior university experience to work at NAU? Accordion Closed
You do not need to have prior university experience to work at NAU. However, some positions may include university experience in the preferred qualifications.
Is a degree required for staff positions? Accordion Closed
All of our postings list the minimum education and experience qualifications. When reviewing the minimum qualifications for a position, a combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the posted qualifications. For example, if a position requires a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience and the applicant has 6 years of experience with no degree, this equivalent may be used.

You can also apply on your mobile device. However, if you prefer to use a computer, many places have computers available to the public, including public libraries and community employment service offices. Computers are also available in the Northern Arizona University Human Resources Office lobby, and our staff is happy to assist you.
I don’t have an e-mail account. How do I get one? Accordion Closed
You may obtain a free email account through several internet sources such as Google or MSN Outlook.
I can’t remember my user name or password. Can you tell me what it is? Accordion Closed
If you have entered an e-mail address in your profile, that is your user name. If you cannot remember your password, you may click on the ‘Forgot your password?’ link to reset your password or you may log in with a one-time code in the system. You must be able to access the e-mail address that you used previously.

How do I reset my password in the job portal? Accordion Closed
If you cannot remember your password, you may click on the ‘Forgot your password?’ link to reset your password or you may log in with a one-time code in the system. You must be able to access the e-mail address that you used previously.
Can I update my application after submitting it? Accordion Closed
No. Prior to the deadline of the job posting, you can choose to withdraw your application by clicking the Withdraw button and resubmitting an application for that particular job posting.
Can I withdraw my application once I have submitted it for a specific job posting? Accordion Closed
Yes, you may withdraw your application. Log in to your account and click the button labeled Withdraw. If you would like to resubmit your application, you must do so prior to the deadline of the job posting.
I made a mistake on my application. How do I correct it? Accordion Closed
No. Prior to the deadline of the job posting, you can choose to withdraw your application by clicking the Withdraw button and resubmitting an application for that particular job posting.
I can’t remember my username. Can you tell me what it is? Accordion Closed
If you have entered an e-mail address in your profile, that is your user name.
Is my application user name and password synced with other NAU accounts? Accordion Closed
If you are an external applicant, your application user name and password are NOT synced with other NAU accounts. They are unique to the application tool.
If you are a current NAU employee, your application user name and password are linked with your NAU login credentials.
Can I print my application? Accordion Closed
You will not be able to print your application.
I had established an account in the former applicant system, and now my username/password is invalid. How do I access my old information? Accordion Closed
As a result of the university’s move to the new applicant tracking system, previous applicant accounts created in the old system are no longer accessible to the university’s hiring process. Applicants will need to create a new account to apply for positions through the new applicant portal. Although applicants will no longer apply for positions at the university in the previous system, previously submitted applications will remain available to hiring departments for review, and applicants do not need to resubmit their applications or supplemental materials for positions for which they have already applied.

Yes. A university parking permit or paid short-term parking is required to park on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus.
