NAU Retirees

Open Enrollment for ADOA health care plans including the NAU PPO will be held October 28th through November 15th.

At retirement, NAU retirees receive an income benefit from one of the state sponsored retirement plans (ASRS, ORP or PSPRS).

They may also be eligible to enroll in health care or life insurance. Other benefits such as the tuition reduction benefit are available to eligible retirees.

Health Care Accordion Open

As a retiree from NAU you had the opportunity to enroll in Retiree Health Care through the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) or the Arizona State Retiree System (ASRS)

 Retirees may elect the NAU BCBSAZ PPO through ADOA. NAU manages the plan design and determines the premiums, but ADOA manages enrollment, eligibility and premiums collection.

Life Insurance Accordion Closed

Retirees enrolled in the NAU Supplemental Life Insurance plan through the Hartford were offered the opportunity to elect Retiree Life Insurance for either $10,000 or $15,000 depending on when they retired.

Retirees pay for coverage annually. In the year of retirement, a pro-rated premium is changed. Coverage is renewed effective January 1st. Billing notices are mailed to the retiree from ASI.

2024 Annual Premium – Premiums are subject to change.

  • $10,000 – $140
  • $15,000 – $215

There is no change in the premiums.

All payments should be made to ASI at P.O Box 657, Columbia, MO 65205.

Other Benefits Accordion Closed

NAU retirees are also eligible for several other benefits

  • IT Services: Retirees can continue use of their NAU email as an affiliate ITS Solution Center supports the email service. Questions about your password or any other email related questions should be directed to the ITS Solution Center by phone at 928- 523-1511, or toll free at 888-520-7215.
  • NAU Bookstore: Retirees receive a discount on most purchases at the NAU bookstore
  • Recreation/Aquatic Center: Retirees may continue to receive discounted prices at these NAU facilities
  • Cline Library: Retirees retain employee privileges at NAU’s Cline Library.
  • Educational Aid: This program allows retirees and eligible dependents to take advantage of educational opportunities at any of the three state universities at reduced tuition rates. Retirees will receive the same tuition benefit they received as employees. you can find more information on the Employee Tuition Reduction Program web page.
