SSLUG Compost Upgrade
Project Summary:
The SSLUG Garden is revitalizing its community composting infrastructure to increase capacity and accessibility for student gardeners. This upgrade includes the purchase of durable wheelbarrows, pitchforks, and animal-proof storage bins to streamline the collection and processing of food scraps. By improving the tools and signage available to volunteers, the project ensures a more efficient decomposition process, transforming campus food waste into nutrient-rich soil for the garden. This refresh not only supports sustainable agriculture on campus but also serves as an educational hub, using clear signage and workshops to teach the NAU community about the closed-loop cycle of food systems.
