Repair Lab

The Repair Lab is a collaboration between the NAU Office of Sustainability and Cline Library. The goal of these events is to repair items that would normally end up in the trash, thereby extending their use and reducing the amount of items going to a landfill.

Bring your items to get repaired!

We accept many different items for repair, including: clothes, textiles, electronics, small appliances, camping/outdoor equipment, lamps, books, and jewelry. Our skilled volunteers will fixed them for free if possible, although do be aware that we may reject items that we cannot repair.

• Drop-in time (11am – 3pm) – People can drop off more routine repairs like clothing, textiles, jewelry, and books without making an appointment. People will fill out tickets detailing the repairs needed and consult with a volunteer if necessary. Then, volunteers can select jobs based on their skills and preferences.

• Appointments (9am – 5pm) – For items that might require more time or troubleshooting – such as bikes, appliances, and electronics – we will have people schedule appointments ahead of time. We may also offer appointments for volunteers who are not available during the drop-in times. We will work with our volunteers to offer appointment time slots based on your availability. For example, if you have availability from 9am-11am and then from 3pm-5pm, we can schedule appointments during those windows of time in 30-minute or 1-hour blocks. We will schedule the appointments for you and just keep you updated on what your schedule looks like. You, of course, remain in charge of your capabilities and capacities and can also reject jobs that you don’t think you can fix during the event.
