Energy Audit Project Proposal
Project Summary:
The Climate Action Committee, in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability and Facility Services, is executing a comprehensive energy audit across the Northern Arizona University campus. This student-led initiative employs a team of trained student workers to systematically assess building inefficiencies, logging data on lighting systems, insulation quality, and appliance usage. Additionally, the team is piloting the installation of UV-reflective window films on the Physical Sciences building to evaluate their effectiveness in insulating heat and reducing cooling costs. By meticulously tracking outdated equipment and energy consumption patterns, this research creates a robust, publicly available dataset to prioritize future retrofitting projects. This hands-on project not only lowers operational costs but also provides actionable data to directly support the university’s Climate Action Plan.
