Building Energy Conservation and Comfort Initiative (BECI)
The Building Energy Conservation Initiative (BECI) is a collaboration between the Office of Sustainability, Energy Mentors program, and building managers to assess the energy efficiency of buildings on campus. Through this initiative, we will conduct energy audits to define the unique energy profile of each building. Then, we will partner with the Energy Mentors program to recruit staff and faculty leaders from each building to help educate residents about optimal energy conservation behaviors for their space. The overall goal is to mobilize and empower the NAU community to engage in more sustainable behaviors, save money through utility cost savings, and contribute to our carbon neutrality goals as outlined in the NAU Climate Action Plan.
General Recommendations
For buildings that haven’t had an audit done, we have developed some general recommendations for best energy conservation practices. Check back soon for links to these documents!
