Adding Electric Utility Vechiles to NAU’s Facility Services Fleet
Project Summary:
In a significant move toward carbon neutrality, Facility Services is replacing five aging diesel and gas-powered trucks with a fleet of Polaris GEM eLXD Electric Utility Vehicles (EUVs). These zero-emission vehicles are tailored for campus maneuverability, allowing maintenance crews to access tight spaces efficiently while eliminating tailpipe pollutants and reducing noise. The shift not only prevents over 3.8 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions annually but also offers substantial long-term savings on fuel and maintenance. Branded with Green Fund stickers, these vehicles serve as mobile symbols of NAU’s operational commitment to sustainability, visibly demonstrating the feasibility of clean transportation to the entire campus community.
