From special proclamations to fun school events, Arizona GEAR UP partners celebrate National GEAR UP Week. To build more excitement, Student Success Agency (SSA) plans to visit our 5E’s of Equity Schools to kick-off their mentoring program with our students. SSA will give introductions and share how they can help students achieve their academic goals.
Student Success Agency was founded in 2012 and leverages current technologies like cell phones and computers to support students outside of the traditional school environment. SSA assigns an “agent” to each student to help with topics like scholarships, college admissions, entrance exams, and more.
During GEAR UP Week, SSA leaders and agents will visit our 5E Schools for the first time since the pandemic began to sign students up for an agent, and show them how to best use their newfound resource. Agents are generally young professionals who mentor students and help guide them through high school and the postsecondary processes. Also, mentors may help students start a business, learn a trade, or enlist in the military. Bottom line? SSA and their agents help students reach their full potential.
SSA will be visiting the following schools:
Amphitheater High School (Tucson): 9/21/2021
Buckeye Union High School: 9/23/2021
Coronado High School: 9/24/2021
Tonopah Valley High School: 9/21/2021
