Another Successful National GEAR UP Week in the Grand Canyon State!
National GEAR UP Week is a time to celebrate GEAR UP students’ accomplishments and recognize GEAR UP programs’ positive impact on communities nationwide. Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs marked the occasion by proclaiming September 23-27, 2024, as Arizona GEAR UP Week.
At our 5E’s of Equity High Schools, multiple celebrations took place. At Amphitheater High School in Tucson, students enjoyed lunch events and games sponsored by Student Success Agency. Buckeye Union High School hosted college scholarship and application workshops. Coronado High School will be holding its events next week. Tonopah Valley High School took students on a field trip to Arizona State University to explore the campus and potential programs. Youngker High School welcomed a representative from SSA to speak with students about how the program can pair them with an agent to help navigate their future as well as had a representative visit and talk to students about Northern Arizona University.
Additionally, schools held Flinn Scholarship and Honors Application workshops as well as lunch events giving away fun GEAR UP swag like sunglasses and t-shirts.
