Arizona GEAR UP will host a FREE Virtual Leadership Academy & Technology Camp June 7 – 11. We even provide gift certificates for lunch during this week-long event. The only requirement is students must attend one of our Achieve60 Schools or one of our 5E Partner Schools. Space is limited, but we need your help in spreading the word.
In previous years, Arizona GEAR UP invited rising 10th graders to Northern Arizona University mountain campus for a weeklong experiential camp to learn more about college life and hone leadership skills. While COVID-19 prevents us from gathering in person this year, we still promise something for everyone.
Students will spend part of their day diving into leadership activities to build self-confidence and tap into their creative side as they engage their true leader. Seeds Training, known for its world-class youth development programs, will facilitate all the leadership components.
Students will customize their technology activities with the TechDuo Curriculum. Each student will choose from one of the following sessions that will help them practice STEM skills during the summer:
- Game Design I: Platform game
- Game Design II: Scrolling background game
- Commercial Art and Animation: Audience and community problem solving
- Robotics: Build and code a robot
And one of the best parts? Each student will receive a robot to design and program regardless of the schedule they choose.
