The deadline is almost here! You have until 6 pm, December 14 to log your HealthyU points for the year.
To avoid last-minute website problems, including slow processing and lockout, log your points early.
- If you log 11 points for the year, you’ll see $115 added to your first paycheck in January.
- If you log 21 or more points for the year, you’ll see $300 added to your first paycheck in January.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s HealthyU program. We look forward to even greater participation next year as we continue to build a healthy campus and a healthy you.

Meet in the HLC lobby
Join us for a lunchtime walk with the Office of the President, EAW, Campus Recreation, and Campus Dining. This walk joins the weekly Campus Rec walking group (please see below). Be sure to wear sturdy walking shoes and carry a water bottle. Registration is not required. All are welcome.

Knitters’ Brown Bag

Interested in learning to knit or crochet? Looking for a creative way to de-stress? Know how to knit or crochet and interested in sharing your knowledge? Join us twice each month for the Knitters’ Brown Bag. Bring your own needles and yarn or use some from the MakerLab. Everyone is welcome! Registration is not required.

Group Acupuncture at Campus Health Services
Provided by Stephanie Selman, Licensed Acupuncturist
Appointments available on Tuesdays and Thursdays
$15/visit
Group acupuncture is now available on campus! Community style acupuncture is best suited for treating mood issues, (like anxiety, PTSD, depression, stress, anger), for maintenance of sobriety, for smoking cessation and eating disorders, for treating pain and headaches, for support for autoimmune disorders, digestive upset, menstrual cramps, PMS and more. Please eat at least two hours before your appointment and do not arrive with an empty stomach.

HealthyU biometric screening at Campus Health Service
Employees may schedule an annual exam at Campus Health Services to receive their biometric measures. This appointment with a medical provider lasts approximately 30 minutes and may be fully covered by your NAU insurance plan. Your exam will provide the information necessary to complete your HealthyU wellness assessment.
Please call 928-523-2131 or stop by the Campus Health Services front desk to schedule. The last day to complete your biometric screening at CHS will be Wednesday, December 12. Appointments are limited – please schedule early.
Get Fit, Don’t Quit – Free Online Wellness Program
Start with small changes for a big payoff! All of the building blocks you need to start the “Get Fit. Don’t Quit!” program are right here. Videos, infographics, nutrition tips and motivational interviews to inspire you and jumpstart your plan. Let’s dig in!
Sign up for the Get Fit, Don’t Quit program, and view at least 5 brief videos to earn one HealthyU point! (Record participation under the “HealthyU Classes and Events” option.)
Campus Recreation employee programs:
EMP (Employee-Only) Group Fitness Class Pass
Health and Learning Center, Recreation Center
Cost options: $35 / 5 classes, $60 / 10 classes, $75 / 15 classes – join any time!
This pass allows NAU employees to attend group exercise classes without a recreation membership. Participants are required to present their Jacks Card at the Rec Center front desk and classes are automatically deducted after each class attended. The pass is not transferrable or refundable and expires one year from date of purchase. Fall semester classes end December 13, 2018. New programs coming in January!
- Restorative Yoga with Poetry: Tuesdays, 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm, with Judy
- Pilates: Tuesdays AND Thursdays, 12:15 – 1 pm, with Savannah
- All Levels Yoga: Wednesdays, 12:15 – 1: 15 pm, with Melissa
Registration is available online under “Multi Visit Pass” and in-person at the Rec Center Front Desk.
Campus Recreation Walking Group
Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:15 – 1 pm
Meets in the HLC Lobby
Join Campus Recreation every Tuesday and Thursday for a FREE lunch-time walking group! These walks are led by student group fitness instructor, Annie, and will vary in path, length and difficulty. In the event of inclement weather, please contact the front desk at 928-523-1733 to confirm the class will be held. Please carry a water bottle. This program does not require a Campus Recreation membership, or registration. All are welcome! For more information, please contact fitness@nau.edu.
F.A.S.T. Fitness – Faculty and Staff Training
Spring Session 1: Monday, January 28 – Friday, March 8
Cost: $150 (train 2x/week for 6 weeks, 12 sessions total)
This program invites NAU employees (and their sponsored members) to participate in personalized, small group training. Small group training offers the best of both group fitness and personal training! It combines interaction with peers with the attention of a personal trainer. With small group sizes, you will receive immediate feedback to accomplish measurable results. Register now, as space is limited!
Registration begins December 10, 2018. To register, please fill out the FAST Fitness Registration Form and complete payment at recreation.nau.edu. For more information, please contact fitness@nau.edu.
Join HealthyU
HealthyU is a wellness program open to NAU employees with NAU Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona health insurance. Earn up to $300 per year for taking part in health and wellness, fitness, or volunteer activities and for using alternative transportation. Register and log points at azblue.com.
