Performance appraisal assistance for supervisors of student employees

Help when you need it

Student Employment is here to help support you throughout the performance appraisal process as supervisors of student employees. Graduate assistants (graduate teaching assistants, graduate research assistants, and graduate services assistants) are considered and referred to as student employees for the purpose of performance appraisals for this webpage. Below, you’ll find important information (such as deadlines, links to forms, etc.) as well as training videos to help you understand your role and responsibilities when it comes to performance appraisals of student employees. Forms, resources and dates

• Supervisors are encouraged to complete personalized performance appraisals at least once per year for each student employee. For semester only graduate assistants, the expectation is that a performance appraisal be completed near the end of the semester.
• Supervisors should have their student employee(s) complete and submit a self-appraisal, and supervisors should then submit a digital copy of their Final Performance Appraisals online as well. The final performance appraisal needs to be submitted using the form generated by the employee’s completion of the self-appraisal.
• To create a Supervisor draft version please use this Blank performance appraisal. Bear in mind that this is for draft purposes only. Copy and paste over to the OnBase form for final submission.
• Should problems arise with the OnBase version of this form, that can not be resolved, please email us at StudentEmployment@nau.edu.

All performance appraisals for student employees should be submitted online by the end of the semester.
