About the JacksCard
What is a JacksCard? Accordion Closed
A JacksCard is a Northern Arizona University photo ID provided for identification and access to services. The name is derived from the NAU sports team name, the Lumberjacks. The JacksCard is available in either a traditional physical card format or as a Digital JacksCard stored in the Apple Wallet.
How much does a JacksCard cost? Accordion Closed

Do you have to get a new JacksCard each year? Does the JacksCard expire? Accordion Closed
No, the JacksCard never expires and the same card can be used every year. If any re-issuance is required due to system upgrades, you will be issued a compliant JacksCard free of cost.
Digital JacksCards
What is the Digital JacksCard in Apple Wallet? Accordion Closed
Digital JacksCard in Apple Wallet is an initiative of the JacksCard Office whereby your iPhone and Apple Watch can take on the functionality of your JacksCard. Anywhere you can swipe a card, you will be able to use your supported iPhone or Apple Watch. Use your Digital JacksCard the same way you have always used your plastic JacksCard — simply tap the reader with your phone instead of your card.

There is no additional cost to use your Digital JacksCard in Apple Wallet.
Can I have both a plastic and a Digital JacksCard? Accordion Closed
No, unfortunately, any plastic JacksCards will be disabled when a Digital JacksCard is added to your Apple Wallet.
Who can have a Digital JacksCard? Accordion Closed
Currently, full-time faculty/staff and students who are taking classes at the Flagstaff Mountain campus are eligible as long as they meet all device and software requirements. For more information, please visit Digital JacksCard.
What do I need to get started? Accordion Closed
- An iPhone 6s or later, or an NFC-enabled device, Android 8.0 or later
- Digital JacksCards can also be added to any Apple Watch Series 1 or later
- Android phones must have a passcode
- Apple ID signed into iCloud and a passcode active on your device(s)
- The latest version of the NAUgo app for adding your Digital JacksCard to Apple Wallet. This can found in the Apple App Store
- Your NAU username and password
- You will need to be enrolled in Two-Step Verification. For more information please see the Two-Step Verification information page
- You will need to have an approved photo. Please visit the photo submission page to add a photo
- You may need the latest version of iOS and watchOS
How do I verify my Apple Watch device version? Accordion Closed
The Series # for your Apple Watch can be found on the back of the Watch. Note: Series
0 Apple Watch is not eligible for this program.
How do I verify and/or update my Apple Watch software version? Accordion Closed

What happens if I lose my iPhone or Apple Watch? If I find it afterwards? Accordion Closed
You should use Find My iPhone to suspend your Digital JacksCard in Apple Wallet or suspend your Digital JacksCard via the JacksCard Account Management Page Instructions for Lost/Found Apple devices and Find My iPhone are located at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201472. Alternatively, contact the JacksCard Office during office hours (928-523-1905) to notify us to deactivate the card in the Wallet for that device.
You can reactivate a found device that was suspended via iCloud.com or JacksCard Account Management Page. If you experience issues with this, contact the JacksCard Office (928-523-1905) during our office hours.
If you only lose one of your two devices, your other device will continue to work; however, you should mark the missing device as lost on iCloud.com until it is found.
Where do I go for questions about my Apple ID and/or iCloud? Accordion Closed

If I have a passcode on my phone, will I have to enter it every time? Accordion Closed
If you are using Express Mode, you do not have to do anything. If you are not using Express Mode, you will have to authenticate each time you access your phone. Express Mode is turned on by default. You will need a passcode enabled on your phone to have access to your Digital JacksCard.
Why can’t I double-tab the home button or side button when my iPhone is locked to see my JacksCard balances in Apple Pay? Accordion Closed
When using Express Mode (iPhone 6s or later), your Digital JacksCard will not be displayed with other cards in Apple Wallet for security reasons. Express Mode is turned on by default.
Can I use my Digital JacksCard if my iPhone has a dead battery? Accordion Closed
On iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR and later iPhone models, Express Mode with power reserve is available for up to five hours after the device’s battery needs to be charged. Express Mode is turned on by default and is required for this function. Please see this Apple Support page for more information.
Can I use my Digital JacksCard without cellular data or WiFi? Accordion Closed
Digital JacksCard in Apple Wallet can be used even if iPhone or Apple Watch does not have network connectivity, as the Digital JacksCard is stored on your device. If you are having any
difficulty using your Digital JacksCard to complete a transaction, report any issues to the JacksCard Office at jackscard@nau.edu or call 928-523-1905 so we can investigate.
Can I change the picture on my Digital JacksCard? Accordion Closed
Yes, please visit the Photo Submission page for instructions. After your photo is approved, you should see the updated photo on your Digital JacksCard immediately.
How many devices can I use with my student ID in the Apple Wallet? Accordion Closed
You can use your student ID card on up to two devices (one iPhone and one Apple Watch) that are signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID.
What if you get a new device or your device is lost or stolen? Accordion Closed
Students will be able to have their Digital JacksCard on up to two supported devices. If you get a new device, you can transfer your Digital JacksCard to your new device. You will need to remove your Digital JacksCard from your original device before it can be added to your new device. This can be performed in the JacksCard Account Management Page by selecting “Account” from the top of the page then selecting “Mobile ID” from the dropdown menu. Once your card is removed from your original device, you can then add your Digital JacksCard to your new device via the NAUgo app.
If your device is lost or stolen, you can use the JacksCard Account Management Page by selecting “Account” from the top of the page then selecting “Mobile ID” from the dropdown menu to suspend or disable your Digital JacksCard. You can also reach out to the JacksCard Office and we can remotely freeze your Digital JacksCard.
My Digital JacksCard isn’t working. What should I do? Accordion Closed
If you are having issues adding your Digital JacksCard to your Wallet, please call the Student Technology Center at 928-523-9294. If you have any other issues with using your Digital JacksCard, please come into the JacksCard Office in the University Union, (Bldg. 30), Room 115, so we can determine why your JacksCard is not functioning properly.
Lost and found JacksCards
I lost my JacksCard. What should I do? Accordion Closed
- First, deactivate your JacksCard.
- Call us at 928-523-1905 or visit the JacksCard Office (Bldg 30) during office hours.
- For on-campus residents who need a replacement card outside office hours, emergency temporary cards can be issued to a student until a replacement can be purchased. Emergency cards are issued at the front desk of residence halls.
- If the card is found, cardholders must come into the JacksCard office to reactivate the card.
- If an old card is found after getting a replacement:
- There are no refunds.
- The old card can be used as a back-up if the new card is lost.
How much is a replacement card? Accordion Closed
Replacement cards are $30.
How do I freeze my card? Accordion Closed
You may call us at 928-523-1905, email us, or come into the office to freeze your card. You may also freeze your card online.
Please freeze your JacksCard immediately if it is lost or stolen.
Can I reactivate an old card? Accordion Closed
Yes. Come into the JacksCard Office (Bldg. 30) and we can reactivate a previously-issued card if you are currently affiliated with the university.
I found a JacksCard. What should I do with it? Accordion Closed
Found JacksCards should be returned to the JacksCard Office (Bldg 30). We email cardholders if their card has been turned in.
JacksCard issues
My Digital JacksCard isn’t working. What should I do? Accordion Closed

My JacksCard is not letting me into my residence hall. What should I do? Accordion Closed
- If the card reader beeps three times when your JacksCard is swiped, please call Residence Life at 928-523-3978.
- If the card reader does not beep when swiped, come into the JacksCard Office (Bldg 30) to determine why your card isn’t working properly.
My JacksDebit Express or Dining Dollar online deposit was not credited to my account. What happened? Accordion Closed
If the JDE or Dining transaction does not show on your JacksCard account, the deposit may have been voided. Please come into the office or give us a call to verify possible errors.

How do I apply for a JacksCard if I’m attending classes online or at an NAU statewide location? Accordion Closed
Fill out the application and email along with a photo or scan of a government-issued photo ID.
Take your photo – Follow the guidelines and submit online.
I am an affiliate and need a JacksCard. What do I do? Accordion Closed
Prospective affiliates will need to first establish a university affiliation before obtaining a JacksCard. Complete the Affiliate Request Form and return to the Affiliate Management Office located in the University Services Building, (Bldg 90), 3rd Floor (Fax number 928-523-0330).

How many meals do I have left this week? Accordion Closed
This information can be found on your JacksCard Account Management Page or on your Digital JacksCard. Alternatively your balance can be verified in person with a photo ID or JacksCard at the JacksCard or Campus Dining offices. Campus Dining can also assist you concerning Meal Plans.
How do I make a JacksDebit Express (JDE) deposit? Accordion Closed
- Add funds online for JDE or Dining Dollars, see Students and Employees JacksCard Account Management Page and Guest Deposit Management Page.
- In person at the JacksCard Office in the University Union (Bldg 30).
- The fill station located in the University Union (Bldg 30).

How do I make a Dining Dollars deposit? Accordion Closed

- In person at the Meal Planning Office in the University Union (Bldg 30).

When do Dining Dollars expire? Accordion Closed
Dining Dollars expire annually following the spring semester in May. For the exact date, please see Campus Dining.
When does JacksDebit Express (JDE) expire? Accordion Closed
JDE does not expire. It rolls over to the next semester or academic year. Inactive students may lose funds if not enrolled in classes for three consecutive semesters.
Can I receive a JDE refund if I graduate or withdraw from NAU? Accordion Closed
Yes, you may receive a refund if your JacksDebit Express balance is greater than $25. If the amount is less than $25, we ask that you please spend it or the balance will be surrendered. Refund requests are available in the office and must be submitted in person, unless there is an extenuating circumstance.
How can I get a JDE refund? Accordion Closed
JDE refund requests are only granted if the student is graduating or withdrawing from the university and the account balance is greater than $25. Other requests are typically not honored, but may be handled on a case-by-case basis.
