Benefits for all employees
Even if you do not work position that makes you eligible for NAU’s full benefit package (voluntary benefits, primary retirement plan and paid time off) you are eligible the following benefits.
Employee Health and Wellness (EAW)
You may attend any of the variety of wellness workshops that are offered each semester for NAU faculty and staff. For a list of current programs, please visit the EAW Calendar of Events page.
You may also receive information and referral assistance to community and campus resources.
Supplemental Retirement Plans
You are eligible to enroll in the university’s supplemental retirement plans. These supplemental retirement plans allow you to save and invest your money for retirement. You pay no federal or state income taxes on the amount you contribute. Income taxes are paid only when the money is distributed (usually after retirement). The university does not match your contributions.
The university offers two types of supplemental retirement plans:
Benefits you may become eligible for
You may become eligible for ASRS if you meet the eligibility requirements. If you work at least 20 hours a week for at least 20 weeks in a fiscal year, you are required to participate in Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). The university will monitor your hours and automatically enroll you in ASRS when you are eligible. You will remain enrolled in ASRS until the end of the fiscal year. Your eligibility will be reassessed each fiscal year.
