- WordHerd
- After some complications at the beginning of the WordHerd process, we will not be meeting the August 1st deadline as cleanly as we would like. Furthermore, there are sites that are being supported by Lipman Hearne that will require more time to be completed.
- “Orphan pages” will not be moved by WordHerd.
- An orphan page is defined as any page that is not being linked to from another available live page.
- Group of sites that are being WordHerded are increasing in efficiency and accuracy, but due to the amount of customized templates/features in Ektron it is difficult to have a clean migration from Ektron to WordPress.
- James is working on processes to migrate these sites safely from the WordHerd network to our internal and live networks.
- Email and contact information is being pulled from Ektron and placed into the WordPress site.
- WordHerd cannot detect “bad images”, and image curation will need to occur separately.
- The WCM Support team will not be responsible for any content curation; they can flag issues found during the migration, but cannot replace them unless alternatives are provided in post-launch Support phase.
- The menu or the website does not have to be perfect to launch; the minimum viable product received from WordHerd is superior to what Ektron provided, so any further updates can occur post-launch.
- DIY sites who have made substantial progress on their site before WordHerd is complete might be able to launch prior to the WordHerd launches.
- WCM Support will go over each site’s menu to ensure it meets minimum acceptable quality standards for launch.
- After sites launch, ITS and Marketing will address people’s concerns as possible, as well as watch out for site health, alongside the Site Stewards
- Ektron
- People can still log into Ektron to make updates and retrieve files as necessary until WordHerd launch is complete.
- Ektron and its assets will still exist for a time, but eventually they will be removed from standard navigation and public view. An archive will later become available.
- Features and Tools
- James is in charge of SiteImprove – Unit Web Coordinators and Site Stewards will receive updates.
- TablePress and GravityForms access will be coming soon, ideally Menu access in the long run.
- Brad led the room through a quick SiteImprove tour.
- Contact forms access will be included in the GravityForms access.
- Sidebar widgets from Ektron are honored with new shortcode.
- The slider galleries are honored with a new shortcode, in an attempt to preserve the Ektron Banner Feature for the time being.
- Some sites may have features that will not be addressed immediately – these typically custom functions are seen as “nice to haves” and will need to be looked at after the dust settles.
- Brad went over timeline plans for an “Intranet,” an internal site, that will be used to hold internal policies or pages that will be CAS password protected.
- WCM Support will strive to further improve response times and ensure clients are aware when their work is occurring.
- Brad announces that he is leaving, Rye and James will step in to keep the project moving forward.
