Last Friday, March 2nd, we deployed a new version of the NAU Enterprise theme. This new version can be seen in the dev, qa, and production environments. An update to staging will come later this week. Below are a lists of notes that accompany the release. We are working on getting functionality in place to allow users to report issues when working with the theme. I will post an update with more information as we get closer to rolling it out.
Navigation
NAU Navigation
- The “Quick Links” list on NAU now contains all the top level NAU links.
- Enhanced the styling of the global NAU navigation.
Site Navigation
- The site location flag now just uses the site name.
- Fixed an issue where the site navigation at certain sizes caused a horizontal scroll bar.
- Fixed an issue where some child menu items were not indenting correctly.
- Chevron now displays properly in Safari browser on IOS.
Footer
- Displayed a default image when Google maps is not present.
- Changed the wording from “More Contact Info” to “Contact Form” and fixed link.
- Removed the comma between room and building.
- Building number now shows up in the footer.
- Social media icons in footer now display correctly without display an underline or wrapping prematurely.
Shortcodes
Accordions
- Special characters are now displaying correctly.
- Added padding around the down arrow.
- Removed restrictions on embedding shortcodes within tabs shortcode, accordions shortcode, and columns shortcode.
Image Captions and Image Callouts
- Fixed an issue with links wrapped around image caption/callout shortcodes. A link can now be added inside the shortcode, this link will render around the resulting content.
- Special characters now render correctly in the image caption/callout shortcodes.
Posts
- Filtering functionality on the posts shortcode has been restored.
Templates
Homepage
- Removed the ability to change the “Request Information” and “Apply to NAU” buttons.
- The right column shortcode can now be used on the homepage.
- Adjusted the styling on the degree images.
- The statistics metabox number field has been restricted to 5 characters. This is to prevent issues where the number was too long and being cut off.
- When selecting minors in the “Academic Program Levels” metabox the result displays as “Minors” in the resulting page.
Directory
- Released a new version of directory.
- Added non academic and division selections.
- Added the department when displaying a directory listing at the college or division level.
- Expanded the filter functionality to include department at the college and division level.
- Expanded on the styling.
We are currently reviewing the new implementation of the directory. Until we finish this process any directory pages that appear publicly will be automatically redirected to the NAU directory.
Catalog
- Fixed an issue with missing plans.
- Fixed an issue with plans that resulted in an error page.
- Expanded on the styling.
The catalog selections now correspond directly with the NAU catalog. If a selection is missing please check the NAU catalog to ensure that the plan exists.
Posts
- The featured image no longer displays both in the page and the banner when viewing a post.
Events
- Fixed an issue where content would overlap at certain screen widths.
- Expanded on the styling.
Any unique code used in the Events template to pull in events should lead with an “@” symbol. This allows users to create events with a keyword beginning with “@”. Using that same code in the Events template will bring in all events with that code in place.
Miscellaneous
- Removed all references to Google Font.
- Fixed an issue on iPhone SE where the search exceeded the screen width.
- Ordered lists now display as numbers instead of bullets.
- Favicon should now display properly in all browsers.
We have also received reports that the image cropping functionality is not working. When investigating the issue we found that it was caused by the browser caching the previous image. If you experience this issue, please clear your browser cache on the desired page to see the new image. If you would prefer not to clear your cache or you are still having issues, using an incognito window on the desired page should negate any caching.
