Today we deployed a new version of the NAU Enterprise theme. The new version can be seen in the dev, qa, staging, training, and production environments. We are happy to announce the official launch of the directory integration. All redirects on directory pages in prod have been removed. Many of the changes in this release were centered around the directory. If you have a directory configured on your website now would be a great time to check out the new features. We have done our best to ensure these changes were not destructive to any existing directory pages, but if you are experiencing issues please feel free contact us. Below is an outline of all the major changes included in this release. If you are seeing issues with styling or layout, please try opening the page in private browser as the browser cache may be causing the issue.
Update: April 6th, we received reports of issues with the non-academic departments not displaying or reporting configuration issues. Also, the warning about redirects in prod was still in place when editing a directory page. These issues have been resolved.
Navigation
NAU Navigation
- Fixed an issue with the navigation button on some mobile devices where the whole button was not registering the click event
Templates
Catalog
- Updated the selections to be sorted and searchable
- Moved the wysiwyg content back below the academic plan information
- Added the ability to add a couple of sentences (300 character limit) above the academic plan information
We had processed a request previously that moved the wysiwyg content above the catalog information that gets embedded in the resulting page. We then received requests to move it back below the catalog information as users had created content specifically targeted for the original area. We have reverted the wysiwyg content to display below, but also added an additional field to allow a user to put a couple of sentences above the catalog content.
Directory
- Removed leading zeros on room and buildings
- The campus map now opens in its own tab and references the building
- Enhanced the directory user interface by making selections searchable
- Added the ability to add multiple non-academic departments in addition to a college, division, or academic department
- Updated the directory to group by department
- Added logic to display the department name without any additional text (“department of”, “program”, and “school of”) to help alphabetize results
- Added department to the directory filter
- Expanded the directory filter to use department sections
- Expanded the directory filter to update the Department Index based on results
- Added a Department Index to jump to departments when more than one department displayed
- The address field now only shows po box, city, and state information
- Updated the person building to be hidden when an override is in place
- Fixed an issue with the directory breadcrumb displaying wrong when on a faculty profile page
If you are seeing people appear in a department that they should not be in, contact your directory maintainer. The directory maintainer should be able to remove the person from that department. Once the person is removed, they will no longer show up in the directory under that department. The same process can be used to add missing people to a directory.
The information displayed in the directory for each user is the accumulation of base information from the user along with all override information. We display all override information because it can be different for each department. If you see invalid information being displayed, please contact your directory maintainer and they can help you update the information being displayed.
We found the default building for each person to not be a reliable indicator of location. If there is a building override present the default building is now hidden, this is because the field cannot be edited by the directory maintainer. If you notice wrong information in the building field, the directory maintainer should be able to add an override and the default building will be hidden. Rooms that are not matched to the building are now displayed on a second line, this is to indicate that the building and room came from different areas (usually overridden at different levels).
Miscellaneous
- Updated the theme image for the NAU Enterprise theme
