New Healthcare Options for 2026 Benefits Cycle

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, cost-effective healthcare options, the NAU BCBS PPO Plan will be discontinued for retirees starting January 1, 2026. This change is the result of careful assessment to ensure quality coverage at a reasonable cost for retirees.

NAU will continue to offer retirees several medical plan alternatives that offer enhanced coverage, lower costs, and expanded access to care.

Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA)

• Choose from Blue Cross Blue Shield or UnitedHealthcare PPO networks
• Enjoy lower premiums and broader pharmacy access (including CVS and Target)

Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)

• Offers Non-Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans through UnitedHealthcare
• Designed to meet a wide range of healthcare needs

 Independent brokers offer additional plan options that may match your lifestyle and budget

Medicare counseling

Medicare is complicated. NAU will be sponsoring a virtual webinar about Medicare options. In addition, Retirees can receive one-on-one Medicare counseling at no cost. To schedule a 1:1 appointment, call (602) 892-0552 or email perfectchoiceinsuranceaz@yahoo.com.

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review and update your benefits.  It runs from October 20 to November 7, 2025, with changes taking effect on January 1, 2026.

If you’re enrolled in the NAU PPO retiree plan, you must take action during this period to maintain medical coverage for 2026. 

Watch for upcoming communications from ASRS and ADOA with important details about your coverage options, monthly premiums, and how to enroll.
