The employer is looking for 3 parts in your answer to a behavioral interview question:
- The exact situation: circumstances and setting
- Action: the action you took in the situation
- Result: what happened? Be specific.
For a winning response, think through your stories and consider how to include those essential elements.
Remember, you’re never going to be only candidate interviewed for a position. After a long day of hearing responses to the same old questions, over and over again, the committee is likely to be sleepy, bored, and ready to get the darn hiring process over with.
You have a golden opportunity! Engage them! Wake them up with your great, well-told story! Set the stage, describe your actions, and tell them what you lesson you learned from the experience.
Not sure how to practice? No worries…we’ve got you covered. Check in tomorrow for a BIG idea.
