Unstaffed Rehearsal Policy
Auditoria is pleased to provide access to Kitt Recital Hall to trained faculty for approved unstaffed rehearsals. To help protect our facilities, equipment, and instruments while ensuring a safe environment for all users, the following expectations apply whenever Auditoria staff are not present.
Supervision & Building Access
- Faculty members or another responsible party approved by Auditoria must remain in the venue throughout the rehearsal.
- Rehearsals should not be left unattended.
- Faculty access credentials will be programmed for approved rehearsal times after arrangements have been communicated to Auditoria@nau.edu.
- Doors should remain secured except when actively being used for loading, unloading, or performer access.
- Please only prop open backstage or hallway doors when necessary. Do not leave doors propped for the duration of a rehearsal.
Lighting & Venue Systems
- House and stage lighting should be controlled using the backstage touchpanel on the wall under the TV.
- Please use Faculty Mode when appropriate.
- A pair of ghost lights will remain illuminated onstage after the system is turned off. This is normal.
- After pressing the backstage lighting off button, you should see the button blinking repeatedly, indicating that the lights are on their two-minute shutoff timer.
Piano Use
The concert grand pianos are one of the Kitt School of Music’s most valuable instruments and should be handled with care.
- Only trained faculty, staff, or authorized individuals should move the piano whilst following proper piano moving procedures at all times.
- Ensure the piano cover is reinstalled when moving and when the instrument is no longer in use.
- When the piano cover is folded during use, it should be stored neatly with the soft white portions folded against each other and only the black exterior surface visible on the outside. Proper storage helps prevent dust, debris, and other items from making their way into the piano.

Stage & Equipment Care
Please help us preserve our facilities and equipment by exercising care during setup and rehearsal activities.
- Be mindful of walls, corners, doors, and finishes when moving equipment.
- Watch for damage risks near wood paneling.
- Use designated stage entrances at all times.
- Do not step on, climb over, or place feet on auditorium seating or railing.
- Do not jump or step on or off the stage, and reinforce this behavior with all guests.
- Do not sit, rest, or place weight on the edge of the stage.
- It is essential to not have any feet dangling from the edge of the stage, due to the high damage risk of the wood slats.
Posting & Marking Materials
Items may only be attached to venue surfaces using blue painter’s tape.
Please do not use:
- Duct tape
- Scotch/clear office tape
- Adhesive hooks
- Other permanent or semi-permanent adhesives
Doors & Facility Hardware
- Use doorstops properly when needed.
- Do not drag doors across floor surfaces while doorstops are engaged.
- Report any door or hardware concerns to Auditoria promptly.
