NAU Auditoria

Ashurst Hall is located inside the Old Main building on the campus of Northern Arizona University. This historic, century-old recital stage and banquet hall has been a focal point of the NAU and a prominent feature of Flagstaff since it opened in 1918.

Serving as one of the most important venues for Northern Arizona throughout the twentieth century, Ashurst has and continues to host a wide variety of events that engages both NAU students and faculty as well as the community. In serving NAU, Ashurst Hall frequently hosts a variety of student and faculty recitals, guest speakers, luncheons, receptions and symposiums. Celebrities that have performed in Ashurst Hall include actor Andy Devine, the Van Trapp family singers renowned by The Sound of Music film. One of the most notable events that have taken place was the announcement by Lowell Observatory’s Dr. C.O.Lampland of the discovery of Pluto in April 1930.

Ashurst Hall is committed to providing a place to experience arts and culture, spark dialogue, celebrate community, and experience incredible performances.

Venue Specific Information for Reservations

  • Ashurst Hall is a beautiful ballroom-style venue with a stage located in historic Old Main that’s an elegant option for small performances, banquets, lectures, dances, and wedding receptions.
  • A widely adaptable room allows for varying setups. A banquet-style set-up can seat up to 200 attendees maximum, while chairs in theater-style seating can fit up to 250 attendees maximum.
  • Food and drink are allowed in Ashurst Hall, and NAU Catering can be ordered for events held here. Please note that tablecloths and linens must be ordered through catering and are NOT provided by the venue.
  • Any event serving alcohol must obtain a waiver through NAU Catering.
  • Requires at least 2 Auditoria employees to be staffed to ensure a smoothly executed event.
  • Projection equipment available for presentations and guest speakers.  Please refer to our Ashurst Hall Technical Specifications – 2026 to see the equipment available listed out.
  • Parking information for visitors can be found on the NAU Parking webpage.
  • Ashurst Hall Technical Form Required for every event in Ashurst Hall four weeks prior.
