Etiquette within our team

Although our WCM Support team maintains a fairly casual presence, there are certain standards for etiquette that must be upheld in order to embody the professionalism and respect that an office setting within the University demands.

General interactions

Whether you’re addressing a Tier 1, 2, 3 member or another supervisor or team lead, here are some general guidelines to follow:

  • Ensure that everything is spelled correctly
  • Check that your message is clearly written, avoid ambiguity
  • Provide the context necessary
    • Instead of asking a team member about “that case” that they assigned you several hours ago, provide a case number, a descriptive summary, and a clearly-written question.

Interacting with your supervisors and staff

When communicating with any of your supervisors or staff members, take extra time to re-read your message or to practice a succinct verbal message that you will deliver in person. Here’s some helpful things to consider when addressing your supervisors or staff:

  • Maintain proper respect levels even over text-based conversations
  • Ensure that you are not interrupting their conversations
  • Be mindful of their workload – if they appear busy, return at a later time
