GEAR UP Alumni Club (GUAC) at Northern Arizona University
Arizona GEAR UP and Northern Arizona University (NAU) are proud to announce the formation of a new chapter of the GEAR UP Alumni Association (GUAA). This initiative will connect NAU’s GEAR UP alumni with a national network of chapters across the country, providing opportunities for support, professional growth, and involvement in a larger community of like-minded peers.
What is a GUAA Chapter?
A GEAR UP Alumni Chapter is a local group formed at colleges and universities that brings together GEAR UP graduates. NAU’s chapter will be a hub for alumni to collaborate, access resources, and stay connected to the mission of GEAR UP. Chapters are supported directly by GUAA’s board and executive director, ensuring strong guidance and services to all members.
Why Join the GUAC?
By becoming part of the NAU GUAA chapter, members will enjoy several key benefits:
- Access to Scholarships: As GUAA continues to grow, more scholarships are being made available to members. Chapter members have the opportunity to apply for scholarships in a special pool, increasing their chances of receiving financial support.
- Professional Growth: Serving on the chapter’s board provides leadership opportunities that can enhance your resume and professional development. Each chapter requires board members, such as a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer, who will work together to lead the chapter.
- Ongoing Support: NAU’s chapter will be part of a National Strategic Council, meeting monthly with GUAA board members and other chapters nationwide. This offers regular access to professional development workshops and virtual meetings.
