Testing accommodations – student

Disability Resources administers academic tests, quizzes, and exams that require the accommodation of extended time, distraction reduced environment, adaptive equipment, readers, scribes and/or alternative test format, etc., for students who have been determined eligible to receive this accommodation. Students must activate their accommodations by registering with Disability Resources every semester in order to use the testing accommodations. To register with Disability Resources, students need to log-in to the Student AXEss website, and choose the Online Registration link.

Disability Resources has a distraction-reduced Testing Center where students can utilize their testing accommodations to take exams and quizzes. The Testing Center includes partitioned individual desks, computers and four private testing rooms. All of the tables and desks in the Center are height adjustable. Some of the most frequently used accommodations that are utilized at the Testing Center include:

  • A Distraction Reduced Testing Environment
  • Extended Time on Exams and Quizzes
  • Text-to-Speech Software (Read and Write Gold, Natural Reader)
  • Speech-to-Text Software (Dragon Naturally Speaking)
  • Text Magnification (CCTV’s and Windows based)

Students are able to schedule an exam or quiz at the Testing Center by booking it online. The online booking must take place three days before the exam or quiz is scheduled (not including the day of the exam). All final exams must be scheduled by Tuesday of Reading Week. Students log-in to the Student AXEss website and choose the “Book a Test” link to schedule an exam.
