Job Access With Speech
Job Access With Speech (JAWS) is a computer screen reader program for Microsoft Windows that allows blind and visually impaired users to read the screen either with a text-to-speech output or by a refreshable Braille display. JAWS works with Microsoft® Office, Lotus, Internet Explorer, Firefox®, and much more.
Northern Arizona University currently has a 10-seat JAWS network license. This means that 10 individuals may be using the program simultaneously on campus computers at any given time. This network version of JAWS is not available to download on a personal computer. However, JAWS is available to students in the following locations:
- Cline Library
- Academic Success Centers
- Residence Hall computers
- Disability Resources Testing Center
- Franke College of Business computer labs
For information on using JAWS to surf the Internet, check out the Surf’s Up! page from Freedom Scientific. You can also find documentation, quick start guides, Braille keyboard input commands, keystroke guides, Aria support and JAWS Tandem information on their Documentation Page.
