This roadmap represents the ITS WordPress Team’s goals for the in.nau.edu site network during FY27. It is subject to change depending on emergent support requests.

Building on prior-year initiatives, the WordPress product team’s fiscal 2027 roadmap is centered on three strategic epics:

Continue consolidating and modernizing hosting and network architecture to improve system reliability, increase uptime, and reduce total cost of ownership.
Enterprise 2.0 Theme Evolution Accordion Closed
Advance the Enterprise 2.0 theme with a focus on accessibility, user-focused design, and streamlined content management to deliver a consistent, user-centric experience across all sites.
Engagement & Communication Accordion Closed
Framework
Implement structured feedback mechanisms and communication channels to foster continuous collaboration between the WordPress team and site editors and owners.
This roadmap positions in.nau.edu to have greater scalability, lower cost, and increased usability.
FY27 Quarter 1
- Infrastructure
- COMPLETED: Complete the migrations of news and legacy content to in.nau.edu.
- Reduce costs by retiring legacy server, non-prod legacy server, and devOps instance.
- Create up-to-date infrastructure for WordPress training environment.
- Theme
- Begin Enterprise theme audit with partners from Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Disability Resources.
- Submission of level 1 priority requests for improving Enterprise theme.
- Strategy & Communication
- Begin communications with stakeholders and in. site editors on pertinent changes to web environments via /web blog and NAU Review posts.
FY27 Quarter 2
- Infrastructure
- Publish cost reflection of infrastructure updates from Q1.
- Theme
- Development team determine most efficient path to respond to audit requests; begin implementation of high priority requests.
- Strategy & Communication
- Automated user and content audits to ensure data and access is up-to-date.
- Establish transparent, ongoing processes to update stakeholders on roadmap progress.
FY27 Quarter 3
- Infrastructure
- Begin migrating production environments off of WordPress As A Service (WPaaS) managed website hosting for a more resilient and scalable development environment resulting in more efficient and widely accessible release process.
FY27 Quarter 4
- Theme
- Begin development of Enterprise 2.0 theme and release beta version.
- Infrastructure
- Complete migration of non-production environments off of WPaaS
What to expect
We will publish roadmap updates on in.nau.edu/web/news every quarter describing what was released and how that impacts goals for the following quarter. Our approach is to publish small releases as often as possible to continue making progress in tandem with nau.edu support requests.
These updates serve as planning touchpoints with stakeholders and community of WordPress editors.
