It’s a new semester so it’s time to hit the reset button. Take a look at last semester and decide what “worked” and what needs tweaking.
The first few weeks always feel “light” and then about 3-4 weeks in we’re drowning in a sea of exams, papers, roommate drama STRESS.
Make this semester different – be proactive and set up habits in the first few weeks that are realistic and sustainable. Find new patterns that make your semester better.
Make 2023 the year you tackle your busy schedule head on. Be proactive and create routines and rhythms that work all 16 weeks.
Feeling in control starts with taking care of yourself. Your body is so amazing and can tell you exactly what it needs and when it needs it if you really take the time to listen.
Here are some tips on how to start your semester off on the right foot.
Tip 1: Balance your plate.
Nope, we’re not talking about vegetables. We’re talking about the plate of life.
Reflect on your personal values. What matters most to you in this season of life? Next, strategically choose your “yeses” and “nos” from that place.
Tip 2: Get plenty of SLEEP.
Your new mission in life is to stay awake during your classes. Remember that one time when you slept like a baby and you felt so good waking up? Why not have that everyday!
Now this may sound like a daunting task, but try planning out a couple days that you get 7-9 hours of sleep and see how it makes you feel. Create bedtime routines that help you unwind and set reminders to get to bed at a reasonable hour.
Eat, drink, and be merry!
Give your body good foods and enough water so that it will feel happy and in turn make you happy.
Eating should be fun so find food that brings you pleasure and keeps you energized throughout the day. Be intentional about staying hydrated too.
Give yourself enough time to get places.
No one likes that person who is late for everything. Plus, running late is stressful.
So before your classes start make sure that you know where they are and what time you have to be there so you can plan accordingly during your day.
Enjoy the process.
Life can feel all over the place sometimes. It’s really true that without those bad or hard days you would never know what the good days are like.
So enjoy all the days of your life and never let a day go by without thinking about the blessings from that day. Reflect on what you learned or how you grew.
Be in the moment and make the most of each day. Cheers to a new semester!
