There are so many fun ways to get your body moving right here in Flagstaff! It is so important to keep movement exciting and try new things until you find something that you enjoy.
Below are just a few of the many local things you can do to get your body moving!
#1 Biking
Biking is a very fun and inexpensive form of exercise. Flagstaff is home to some of the greatest trails including Buffalo Park, Sinclair Wash Trail, Karen Cooper Trail, and Pine Knoll Trail. Check out the Flagstaff Urban Trails (FUTS) and Bikeways Trail Map for ideas.
#2 Hiking
Similar to biking, hiking is also very fun and very inexpensive. Spring is so beautiful here in Flagstaff and what better way to experience these views than hiking.
A few hiking trails to check out are Mt Elden Trail Head, Humphry’s Peak Trail Head, Sandy Seep Trail Head, and Fisher Point. Download the AllTrails app and start exploring.
#3 Rock Climbing
Flagstaff has so many areas with exposed rock making it the perfect place for rock climbing too. Some of these areas are the Isolation Canyon Crag and Jacks Canyon Crag.
There are also a lot of great indoor rock climbing gyms including NAU Campus Recreation, Flagstaff Climbing Gym, and Beta Bouldering Gym.
#4 Skiing, snowboarding, and sledding
Snowbowl is a gem in Arizona, and you guessed it, it’s right here in Flagstaff! This ski resort has dozens of trails and is open until the end of April.
Also, check out Arizona Nordic Village for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Tap into your inner child and try out some local sledding hills. Climbing up sledding hills and sliding down isn’t just fun, it’s a great way to move your body.
#5 Frisbee Golf
Frisbee golf is a very fun and trendy sport similar to golf (but MUCH cheaper). The idea is to throw a disc from a tee to hit an above-ground target in as few throws as you can. This can be a great way to get moving with your friends.

#6 Pickleball
Not only is pickleball a fun and exciting way to get in some exercise, it is also a great activity to do with your friends or family. Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong and there are many courts here in Flagstaff.
You can find these courts at Bushmaster Park, McPherson Park, and Thorpe Park or you can just take some rackets to an open basketball court or tennis court to mess around. Check out the Flagstaff Pickleball Association for more information about open courts and events.
#7 Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP)
Get a group of friends together and go in on a stand up paddle board day rental for $40. Head over to Lake Mary and soak up the sun and take turns “supping” the lake.
