It’s SPRING BREAK!! Hope you’re out there doing fun things and getting some rest and relaxation. While you have a few extra days off from school, it’s a great time to get organized so that you can finish the semester strong.
School can be extra stressful in the latter half of the semester (remember?), especially when you aren’t organized. Spend a few moments this spring break getting organized and the last few weeks of the semester will be easy-breezy and summer will be here before you know it. Check out these tips below:
1. Use a Planner.
Using a planner can help you keep track of assignments, due dates, tests, club meetings, and other plans you may have. You can try getting a notebook style planner if that works best for you, or you can try a planner app on your phone or tablet if you are more of a technology person.
2. Stick to a Schedule.
Sticking to a weekly schedule can help to make your day more organized. Writing a schedule out hour-by-hour can help you visualize your week. This can really help lower your stress when you see your time mapped out like that.
Waking up and going to bed at he same time every day is a great place to start. From there you can plan out what times you eat, keep track of what times you have classes, write down times when you will study and do homework, times you might workout or go to the grocery store and include any other plans you might have for the week.
3. Plan Ahead.
Doing homework at the last minute can add extra pressure to your life. Instead of doing your assignments on the day they are due, plan ahead and do them a few days before. That way, you can relax on Sunday nights rather than writing that essay or taking that quiz. If there are ways you can get ahead in your classes over Spring Break, that might really pay off later.
4. Make to-do Lists.
Try making a to-do list every morning with the assignments that need to be done, the assignments you need to start, any housebound chores that need to be completed, and any other tasks you need to complete that day. Planning out when you are going to do them and how long they are going to take can make your day go more smoothly.
Break down big assignments into small ones with to-do lists. For example, don’t just add “write English essay” to your to-do list. Instead, you could put “write the intro paragraph of my English essay” which is due in a week. Breaking things up in small chunks makes it more fun to knock things off your to-do list.
5. Keep Your Space Tidy.
Clutter can be distracting. Keeping your workspace clean and tidy will not only help you see where everything on your desk is, it will also help with eliminating the distraction of an untidy space, and lower your stress levels. To avoid your space becoming overwhelmed with excess items, try cleaning your desk a few times a month.
