Employee Safety & Emergency Preparedness
Preparedness starts before an emergency happens.
Whether you’re a staff member in Flagstaff or at a statewide location, the most important thing you can do is stay informed, stay connected, and know where to find trusted information before you need it. This page connects NAU employees with recommended preparedness resources and training opportunities.

1. Be Informed: Download the NAU Safe App
The NAU Safe App is the primary safety resource recommended by NAU Emergency Management and NAUPD.
The app provides:

2. Know What To Do
Emergency preparedness is more than receiving alerts. Take time to review https://in.nau.edu/police-department/safety/ and NAU Red Folder Resource.
Being familiar with these resources before an emergency can help you respond more confidently.
3. Stay Connected
Some emergencies affect both campus and the surrounding community. Flagstaff-area employees should also consider enrolling in local emergency notification systems, particularly for incidents such as:
- Wildfires
- Flooding
- Evacuations
- Severe weather

Stop the Bleed
Stop the Bleed is a grassroots national awareness campaign and call to action, that encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.
