Damage/Theft Reporting Procedures for University-Owned Property

Criminal/Vandalism damage or theft of University-owned property

On-campus loss

Report the following incidents to University Police Dispatch, (928) 523-3611, immediately upon discovery:  all criminal damage/vandalism to University property or theft of University property that occurs on the NAU campus.  The reporting officer will file a police report on the incident.  Contact Risk Management at (928) 523-2009, with the police report number.  Risk Management will request a copy of the report from University Police.

Off-campus loss

Report the following to the local law enforcement agency immediately upon discovery: all criminal damage/vandalism to University property or theft of University property that occurs off-campus.  Contact Risk Management at (928) 523-2009, with the police report number.  Risk Management will contact University Police to request a copy of the police report.

Non-criminal damage to University-owned property

This involves all non-criminal type damage such as water damage due to frozen pipes, flooding, or heavy rains; glass breakage due to high winds; equipment damage due to lightning strikes, etc.  All damage caused by non-criminal type activity should be reported on the online Damage Report.  The Damage Report, located on the Risk Management website, is not a police report and once submitted will go directly to the nau-propliability@nau.edu e-mail for processing as a potential insurance claim.
