A windy March 3rd in Flagstaff called for a beautiful day down in Phoenix for a spring training game. We started our afternoon by heading to In n Out for a delicious lunch. (Thank you Peer Jacks for providing lunch to all of our mentees and mentors!) We then walked as a big family from In n Out to the Peoria Sports Complex. Peer Jacks enthusiastically watched as the Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Mariners play it out under the beautiful sunset.
Check out our mentees’ experiences below:
“I have always enjoyed Peer Jacks trips, and this game was no exception. It’s fun to see who comes to these events, and how fired up they are to go. Everyone was so excited, and it made it easy to be pulled into the enthusiastic atmosphere, even without my hometown team playing. Overall I’m glad I went on this trip, and I hope to attend another event soon!” –Adriana Weise; Buffalo, MN
“Got the chance to watch the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners spring training game with Peer Jacks. The fun never stopped throughout the trip. From jamming to the music in the vans to watching the intense game. Glad that I got the chance to hang out with everyone. Can’t wait to go on more adventures with everyone.” -Keli McPheeters; Portland, OR
“While I am not a fan of baseball, I really enjoyed going to the Spring Training game with my friends. The two hour drive to the game went by very quickly due to fun and inviting conversations in my van and singing along throwback songs like “Classic” and “Tonight”. Even though In-n-out burger was crowded, like it normally is, it was still a good lunch that I could appreciate with my friends. Also, the weather was nice, the grass was comfortable, and eating shrimp tacos and funnel cake with my friends made the spring training game an exciting and memorable experience!” -Nyelah Mitchell; San Diego, CA
“My trip to Spring Training with Peer Jacks was an amazing time. We went down to In-N-Out, which was a treat, being that I am from Southern California and haven’t had it since Christmas break. I am a huge Angels fan, so I was so excited to go to see them play in Spring Training. I usually go to Spring Training every year with my family, so going with Peer Jacks and other students was different, but I really enjoyed the laughs and fun times I made with my mentor and other students.” -Madison Fernandez; Ontario, CA
We hope to see you on our next off-campus trip!
