Office of the Fire Marshal
The NAU Fire Marshal is in place to ensure Northern Arizona University meets fire and life safety codes in all buildings. Inspections are performed campus wide. Violations and deficiencies found are prioritized and proper notifications are initiated for corrections. Optional plans are developed and reviewed when appropriate. Status reports are documented and filed. All new construction and remodel plans are reviewed relative to fire, life and safety, and returned in a timely manner. The reviews are to develop corrective measures for deficiencies found in preliminary plans and to prevent incorrect fire and life safety features from being built. Coordination with appropriate building inspectors and project managers is to insure compliance is completed. Fire and Life safety information and awareness training for students, faculty and staff is provided. All safety related hazards and concerns are investigated, researched and documented, as well as recommendations for corrective measures. The Marshal acts as a liaison between local, state and federal agencies dealing with fire prevention and the university in fire related matters.
