Notice to Users:
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) has transitioned to a new platform, CampusOptics, which is accessible via nau.campusoptics.com/start.
CampusOptics is a centralized, enterprise-wide platform that provides the functions and flexibility EHS needs to support a safe and compliant working and learning environment customized for NAU. This platform offers a wide range of utilities that are being activated over time in an extended rollout. You may receive occasional announcements about new functions or tools as they become available.
CampusOptics is currently live for training, inspections, IBC protocols, waste pickup requests, and several other functions. See the CampusOptics User Guide or contact EHS if you need assistance with use. EHS will also provide live instruction for navigating the new platform. Check this page frequently for further updates.
What happened to my old records?
EHS staff has preserved all pertinent records from SciShield, including but not limited to inspection and training records, chemical inventories, space assignments, and space-specific hazards. These records were uploaded into CampusOptics as part of the implementation process. If you need to update your space assignments, please reach out to EHS, or plan to correct them with your EHS partners during your next inspection.
How do we access safety training courses?
Online safety training modules previously hosted in SciShield are now hosted in CampusOptics. A list of all online safety trainings can be accessed via our Health and Safety Training webpage. Training assignments are now made through a variety of mechanisms including prior training records, job duty criteria, a hazard assessment conducted by a PI/supervisor, department affiliation, or manual assignment. If you have been assigned to a training incorrectly or need help accessing training, please contact NAUEHS@nau.edu or OcSafety@nau.edu. For assistance with Biosafety, Bloodborne Pathogen, or NIH Guidelines training, please contact BioSafety@nau.edu.
