What is Drop-In Advising
We know questions don’t always come up on schedule. That’s why we offer drop-in advising—no appointment needed.
Drop-in is a great option for quick questions that need immediate attention and typically take 15–20 minutes, like:
- Can I swap this class before the deadline?
- How do I drop a course today?
- I have a registration hold—what should I do?
Drop-In Advising is first-come, first-served. Wait times may vary depending on the time of year. If your question is more complex—like changing a major, creating a schedule for the semester, or planning your full academic path—we invite you to schedule an appointment. But Drop-in can be a great place to start. We’ll listen, offer guidance, and help you schedule a follow-up if needed.
We’ll meet you where you are. If it’s a quiet time, we may be able to help with more in-depth questions right away.
When is Drop-In Advising? Accordion Closed
University Advising Academic Advisors are available every week (except University closures) during these days and times (listed in Arizona/MST):
- Wednesday 1:00 PM-3:30 PM
- Thursday 1:00 PM-3:30 PM
During the start of each fall and spring term and the two weeks around enrollment, Academic Advisors will also offer expanded drop-in hours. For the start of the Spring 2026 term:
- Friday, January 9th
- 9 am-11 am
- Monday, January 12th through Thursday, January 15th
- 9 am-11 am & 1 pm-3:30 pm
- Tuesday, January 20th & Wednesday, January 21st
- 1 pm-3:30 pm
- Thursday, January 22nd
- 9 am-11 am & 1 pm-3:30 pm
Where is Drop-In Advising? Accordion Closed
Unless out of the office, all Academic Advisors are available by phone, and many are available in person. Because we have Academic Advisors in different locations around the Flagstaff Campus, and the state, use the Appointment Planner to understand your advisor’s availability and location.
How can I be added to the queue? Accordion Closed
In Person: Stop by your advisor’s location (check the Appointment Planner) to be added to the queue by our front desk support, or by using our self check-in tool.
Phone: Call the University Advising desk at (928) 523-4772 or one of our satellite advising locations directly to be added to the queue for a phone call.
