In this one-hour seminar, we’ll discuss how to help students overcome procrastination and produce better papers. Skills include brainstorming, research, organization, argumentation, analysis, peer review, and drafting. We’ll look at different models of the writing process and how they can enhance students learning of content in a variety of assignments and disciplines as well as save instructors time and effort grading.

Simple Course Changes to Enhance Learning & Increase Student Success

This workshop will provide an inside look at a recent course design initiative in the First Year Experience department: the intentional design of student success and learning strategies into small sections of BIO181A. This workshop will share course framework and best practices, especially those widely adaptable to courses that are traditionally more difficult for underprepared students. Finally, to provide some proof of concept: a glimpse at the significant impact of these tactics on student success within the redesigned biology course and beyond.
